Chhattisgarh administration recovers over 2,997 quintals of paddy in inspection drive

Bilaspur district administration conducted an inspection drive at various paddy procurement centres, leading to the surrender of a significant amount of paddy.

The action was taken to prevent irregularities in the paddy procurement process. The verification team found discrepancies in the quantity of paddy declared by farmers and seized substandard paddy.

A joint verification team conducted extensive inspections. The team, after verifying the tokens of farmers and various paddy procurement centres, got 2,997 quintals of paddy worth approximately Rs 93 lakh surrendered.

Food Controller Anurag Bhadauria informed that the Naib Tahsildar inspected the paddy procurement centre at Jondhra in Pachpedi tehsil.

After physical verification of the paddy available with the farmers present on the spot, 356 quintals of paddy from six farmers were surrendered. Similarly, in Seva Cooperative Society Chilhati, 143 quintals of paddy from four farmers on 2.758 hectares were surrendered. At the Okhra procurement centre, 90 quintals of paddy from three farmers were surrendered.

The Naib Tahsildar inspected the paddy procurement centre Dhuma in Kota tehsil. After physical verification of the paddy available with the farmers present on the spot, an area of 1.720 hectares was surrendered. At the paddy procurement centre Kargi Kala, 482 quintals of paddy were purchased from 11 farmers, and an area of 38 quintals of paddy was surrendered.

At the paddy procurement centre Kargi Khurd, an area of 5.101 hectares was surrendered with the consent of the farmers.

During the inspection of the paddy procurement centre Karra, an area of 21 quintals of paddy was surrendered from a farmer on the spot. In the inspection of the Kota paddy market, tokens of 29 farmers were found cut, and an area of 6 hectares was surrendered.The Nayab Tahsildar inspected the paddy procurement centre Devari in Sipat Tehsil, and as only 78 quintals of paddy were found in physical verification against 547 quintals, the remaining paddy area was surrendered.

The officer also inspected the paddy procurement centre Godadih in Masturi tehsil, and tokens of 28.633 quintals of paddy from 19 farmers were cut. As no paddy was available in physical verification, instructions were given to surrender the area of the above paddy.An area of 116 quintals of paddy was surrendered from four farmers at the paddy procurement centre Bharari. An area of 375 quintals of paddy was surrendered at the paddy procurement centre Malhar and 181 quintals of paddy at the paddy procurement centre Kirari

During the inspection of the paddy procurement centre Tikari, an area of 742 quintals and at the procurement centre Vedparsa, an area of 432 quintals of paddy was surrendered.

During the inspection of the paddy procurement centre Kenda in Belgahna Tehsil, 100 bags of paddy out of 325 bags brought by the farmer were found to be old and of substandard quality. Therefore, the above substandard paddy was seized.
